HOW VOLUNTEERING IN THE THRIFT SHOP CAN MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE

Since 1983 we have been dedicated to fostering a sense of community through our shop, where a team of passionate volunteers comes together to make a difference in our community and for our neighbors. “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" Matthew 24:40. The emphasis here is not on 'the least' but on us; that in "doing for" another we are also serving the Lord. Join us in this profoundly enriching community service as we welcome donors and shoppers, turning the simple act of dropping off or shopping for home into a shared experience. Together, we sort and display newfound treasures while ensuring that each shopping bag is filled not only with goods, but also with a touch of love and attention. Your involvement makes a difference, and every interaction is an opportunity to show show Christ's love for our community. All proceeds from this endeavor are invested back into the community, including the We Care Community Food Bank. Contact Del Collings at delco7980@gmail.com or Karen Wade at kmw4463@yahoo.com to join our team today! See the Shop on Facebook: Located at: 114 Courtland Road Chapin, SC

PRACTICING COMPASSION:

WE ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE

WE CARE ORGANIZATION

The We Care Center is doing the Lord's work in the Chapin area, and we're proud to participate in their ministry. With an emphasis on compassion and dignity, We Care is one of the community's emergency lifelines for families and individuals in need. Its mission aligns with St. Francis' outreach goals, and volunteers. So, alongside other churches, businesses, civic groups, and individuals, we're putting our time and resources behind the We Care organization. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." And "Love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:30-31 New International Version. Contact any M ission Committee Member to volunteer for this impactful ministry.

EDUCATIONAL IMPACT:

ST. FRANCIS' ONGOING SUPPORT FOR CHAPIN SCHOOLS

St Francis has sponsored a week-long summer camp for our underserved Chapin elementary students for over 20 years. Students from the Chapin community enjoy swimming lessons, crafts and reading partners as they create lasting bonds and memories.

A 40-YEAR BOND WITH

CANGE, HAITI — CARRYING THE TORCH FORWARD

St. Francis of Assisi shares a profound and enduring connection with Cange, Haiti, and the wider Central Plateau region, marking over three decades of impactful ministry spanning 30 years. Under the leadership of Father Fritz Lafontant, a visionary Episcopal priest this challenging and deeply rewarding ministry began. Since our inaugural medical mission in 1981, we've participated in transformative milestones—a water project in the '80s, clinics, hospitals, a sewing center offering local employment, and a thriving 35-acre farm. Our diocesan "Adopt-a-Village" initiative has built over 15 schools, a testament to our commitment. St. Francis is actively engaged, standing steadfast in support of this vital ministry outreach. To engage with us in this long term ministry and carry the torch forward, contact the Outreach Congregational Leadership liason, Dell Collins.

BLESSING OUR PETS FOR ALL THE WAYS THEY BLESS US

St. Francis blesses our beloved companions every year in October, and maintains a pet supply box in our campus parking lot where the community can share or pick up supplies for pets in need. We often collaborate with with the Pawmetto Life Line, a nonprofit organization to host a discounted pet vaccination clinic in our church parking lot. While Pawmetto Life Line manages the clinic, we were setting up tents, ensuring pets and owners have water, and warm hospitality for all, two legged and four.

THERE IS SO MUCH MORE...

The congregation of St. Francis of Assisi is a deeply caring and dedicated community of people exploring through service to others what it means to serve the Lord. Come and see for yourself, and find a niche for yourself in a supportive, loving community of believers. Contact Father Doug or Deacon Ann to learn much more about the faith, and your place in it.
